Sedation dentistry.
We understand that visiting the dentist can be a stressful, overwhelming or even frightening experience. At Nanaimo Dental Clinic, we want you to feel relaxed, assured, and comfortable during your dental visits, which is why we offer sedation dentistry options to allow you to tailor your experience to fit your needs.
Our sedation dentistry options.
Both Dr. Rebecca Booker and Dr. Aaron Cooper practice oral sedation dentistry and can guide you on the method of sedation that best fits your individual needs. There are various sedative methods available to help you feel more relaxed, comfortable, and calm. A few examples include Either Ativan (Lorazepam) or Halcion (Triazolam), which commonly make patients feel drowsy and relaxed during their dental treatments.
If you are receiving sedation services, we ask that you please arrive at our Nanaimo dental clinic at least one hour prior to your appointment. All patients receiving sedation are required to have a friend or relative accompany them to and from our office. If you’d like more information, please contact our office.
Painless Dental Anesthesia with The Wand®
Feel the care, not the pinch. At Long Lake Dental Clinic, our dentists are trained in using The Wand® Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA) system — a computer-controlled alternative to traditional needle freezing. The Wand looks like a small pen and delivers local anesthesia slowly and precisely, helping minimize discomfort and ease anxiety. By targeting only the tooth being treated, The Wand reduces the chances of lingering numbness in your lips, cheeks, or tongue. It’s an excellent option for children, anyone with dental anxiety, or those who prefer a more gentle approach to numbing.
If discomfort or fear has kept you from the dentist in the past, The Wand could make all the difference. We’re always happy to explain how it works and help you decide if it’s the right fit for your next visit.
